Sweet Tooth Craving Chocolate?

"Forget love ... I'd rather fall in chocolate!" - Anonymous
Have you ever had that craving for something sweet, gooey and chocolaty and then search through your whole kitchen for hours only to find nothing to crave your sweet tooth? I have! But now I have this recipe that a friend gave me and any time my sweet tooth is aching I whip this up and die a little with each bite. This my friends is the 5 minute Chocolate Cake! Yes I said 5 minute Chocolate Cake!! It's so simple and easy and quick and I love it! I made it last weekend for my parents and I thought my mom was going to die. WARNING!- you will need a giant glass of cold milk with this cake!

My god I just sounded like an infomercial!! I apologize. Honestly- this cake is really really good- it might not look so good but I had too many chocolate chips in it which made it extra gooey. I also ate my cake piping hot...which caused me to burn my tongue- but it was worth it! I wanted to post this before Valentine's day  because, well, honestly- not everyone has someone to buy them flowers or candy and I feel like a dork when I buy myself a chocolate assortment so instead I plan on eating this Sunday all by myself while watching "boys suck" movies! Since eating this last weekend I'm constantly craving it. But let me also warn you that it's not the most healthiest thing to eat :)
Okay so here's the recipe:
5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

  • 4TBS Flour
  • 4 TBS sugar
  • 2 TBS cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • 3 TBS milk
  • 3 TBS oil
  • 3 TBS chocolate chips (optional)
  • A small splash of vanilla extract
  • 1 Large mug

  • Put the dry ingredients in the mug and mix well.
  • Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
  • Add the milk and oil and mix well.
  • Add the chips (if using) and the vanilla and mix well again.
  • Put mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at HIGH (1000 watts). Stick toothpick in center and if it comes out clean it's done.
  • The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t panic.
  • Allow to cool, then tip it out of the mug if you wish or eat it from the mug.
NOTE: If your microwave has more power, reduce the time, if less power, extend the time. You need approximately 3000 watt-minutes to “bake” properly, so if you have 1200 watts at HIGH, 3000/1200 = 2.5 minutes. If you have 800 watts at HIGH, 3000/800 = 3.75 minutes, etc. I just cooked it and then put a toothpick in the center- if it came out clean- it was done!

NOTE 2: You could mix the ingredients in a bowl and then pour them into the mug before “baking” but then you would have another dish to wash.

This recipe is also very dangerous because you are only a few minutes from chocolate cake any time of the day or night. Leave me a comment if you've tried this or what you think :) I hope you all enjoy this recipe as much as I do and I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and a very Happy Valentine's day.
