Five Layers

When my family and I go to the beach every year we help cut costs by each person taking care of one dinner. Along with that one dinner my sisters  also made items for lunch and breakfast. Every beach trip I have always been responsible for the desserts. It's sort of tradition that I make chocolate chip cookies, ranch pretzels, egg custard pie, and a fruit tart/cookie. But each year I like to try a few new desserts out to get my family's opinion. This year I found Paula Dean's Fiver Layer Bars recipe (click here for recipe) and it was literally to die for! I always look for super easy recipes to make at the beach since I don't want to spend too much time inside and these were a cinch to make!
Semi-Sweet Chocolate chips, Butterscotch chips, chopped pecans, shredded coconut,
graham cracker crumbs, sweetened condensed milk (also need butter-not pictured)
Melt butter and mix into graham cracker crumbs, then spread mixture onto bottom of 13x9 baking dish

layer nuts, chocolate and butterscotch chips, and coconut on top of crust.
(I didn't use the whole amount of called for coconut since my family doesn't like coconut)

Pour sweetened condensed milk on top of mixture and bake
Just FYI-I didn't use the whole amount of coconut it called for and the oven at the beach house cooked things faster than expected so you're bars might look different than mine did. I am not lying when I say that these are addicting! I've got backup and an empty plate saying that they are that good. They just melt in your mouth the minute you bit into one and the texture is so creamy but still has that little crunch to it. I hope you try this recipe out and like it as much as we did. No lie-less than 10 minutes tops and they are in the oven! Click here for the recipe!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. It looks like it's going to be another hot one- so make sure you're stocked up on popsicles and water :)
