Chocolate-Peanut Butter Bars

chewy
Yay it's Friday!! You know what Friday's mean- food recipes to help your weekend be a little sweeter! Ready for this weeks?

Well, the other day I was visiting one of my favorite food blogs- Confessions of a Cookbook Queen when I spotted this recipe HERE from Pillsbury. You know I have a weakness for anything peanut butter so when I saw how simple these Chocolate-Peanut Butter Bars were to make I knew I had to try it. Kristan from Confessions of a Cookbook Queen made a few changes to the recipe which I did as well but not the same changes she did. Although please, PLEASE take her advice and line your cake pan with foil before spraying with cooking spray. I did not use foil (bad me) and ended up having a bugger of a time trying to get the bars out.

The change I made- I used a whole bag of peanut butter and milk chocolate baking chips and 1 extra cup of semi sweet chocolate baking chips for the icing. I wanted that extra kick of peanut butter and I just so happen to have these in my pantry. I really liked this icing and with the additional cup of chips it make it a little thicker.

I do have to admit that I did not cook my cookie crust long enough by accident-make sure you cook it for the full 10 minutes. I think you will really like this recipe, as with all of my recipes-it's very easy and super yummy. The center has almost a cake like consistency. It's sort of like a giant Tastykake Kandy Kake (check HERE to see what I'm talking about)

You can find the recipe HERE or Kristan's version HERE.

Are you as glad as I am that this week is over? Now that it's warm and gorgeous out all I want to do is play outside and lounge by the pool. I wish now that I would have went to school to be a teacher. They have it made with summers off from work! Anyways, I am going to fully enjoy this weekend by doing a whole lot of nothing! So I hope you have a fantastic weekend doing whatever it is you decide to do!
