Living Room Reveal

1 The great reveal
It's funny that I'm finally getting around to posting about this now because on December 7 I will be celebrating my 1 year anniversary of buying a house! A year ago I had never thought about owning a house or living on my own, I was comfortable and content living with my parents. But when the opportunity was presented for me to buy a house I said a prayer, trusted my faith, and took a huge leap. Almost a year has gone by and it has been the biggest and most rewarding adventure I have ever took. There is no feeling better than coming home to a place where you and your family put their blood, sweat, and tears into making it what it is today. I still have plenty of rooms to redo but I knew I had to start with the living room.

When I walked into the house for the first time and saw the living room I instantly starting envisioning what it could be. I knew the paneling, carpet, drop tile ceiling, ceiling fan and vertical blinds had to go. I then started thinking about a color pallet. I wanted something cool, crisp and chic but yet still warm and inviting. Ever since I can remember I have always wanted a grey couch and grey walls. I felt they were a cool neutral that could withstand many different color choices throughout the years. I also knew I wanted to make my photos the only art work in the room. I decided on this orchid photo I took in February 2012 at Phipps Conservatory and pulled colors from it. I really got lucky with the floors- after pulling up the dog stained carpet the wood floors were in decent shape. A few coats of polyurethane and they looked gorgeous!

At the end is a slide show that will show you photos of the room from start to finish, but for now I want to welcome you to my living room.

I need to give my dad a lil shout out because without him this room wouldn't be what it turned out to be. He put countless hours of hard work, blood, sweat and swear words into turning my house into a home. I will forever be indebted and grateful to him. Thank you Dad! I can not put into words how much you're help has truly meant to me!

Hope you enjoyed my little tour. I'll reveal more soon...maybe the closet/office? But for now, welcome to my home!
